Post-Session: Sensex down 845 pts; IT, banks top drag, oil & gas gains

Indian benchmark indices ended lower for the second consecutive session on April 15 with Nifty around 22,300.



Biggest losers on the Nifty include Shriram Finance, Wipro, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank and Bajaj Finserv, while gainers were ONGC, Hindalco Industries, Maruti Suzuki, Nestle India and Bharti Airtel.



Among sectors, except oil & gas and metal, all other sectoral indices ended in the red.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 73399.78 down by -845.12 points or by -1.14 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22272.5 down by -246.9 points or by -1.1 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73905.8 and intraday low of 73315.16 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22427.45 and intraday low of 22259.55



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12426.55,+1.24%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2567.00,+1.22%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1227.15,+0.16%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 459.25,-2.47%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1078.00,-2.37%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1661.60,-2.15%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3600.85,-2.10%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 7075.00,-2.09%), among others.



Oil&Gas index was at 28358.64 up by 113.43 points or by 0.4%. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 279.75,+5.31%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (Rs. 473.80,+2.33%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 203.75,+1.29%), Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 305.65,+0.05%),.



_IT index was at 35217.1 down by -564.56 points or by -1.58%. Sasken Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1527.75,-5.75%), TVS Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 282.30,-5.09%), Datamatics Global Services Ltd. (Rs. 608.00,-4.94%), Tanla Platforms Ltd. (Rs. 939.45,-4.57%), Vakrangee Ltd. (Rs. 23.84,-4.26%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4347 , shares advanced were 1049 while 3110 shares declined and 188 were unchanged.
