Vi launches 5G services in Mumbai with unmatched value

Vodafone Idea (Vi), a leading telecom operator, has officially launched its 5G services in Mumbai, bringing next-generation connectivity to its customers. This rollout marks a significant step in enhancing the mobile experience across the city with comprehensive coverage and competitive pricing.

Powered by its robust spectrum holding and significant investments in advanced infrastructure, Vi's 5G network promises enhanced capacity, superior performance, and reliable connectivity. The company has partnered with Nokia to integrate the latest, energy-efficient technology in its 5G rollout, ensuring a sustainable and optimized network experience.

To further enhance service quality, Vi has implemented an AI-based Self-Organizing Network (SON) system. This intelligent system continuously optimizes network performance to provide the best possible experience for users.

As part of its introductory offer, Vi is providing unlimited 5G data on plans starting at just Rs. 299, making it one of the most competitively priced options in the market. Customers can enjoy a seamless experience across various activities such as video streaming, online gaming, video conferencing, and high-speed downloads.

Vi's existing 4G network is already recognized for its exceptional performance in Mumbai, as highlighted in a recent OpenSignal report. The introduction of 5G services further strengthens Vi’s network, catering to the increasing demand for high-bandwidth applications like streaming, gaming, and real-time cloud access.

Over the past year, Vi has raised approximately Rs. 26,000 Crore in equity, including India’s largest Follow-on Public Offering (FPO) of Rs. 18,000 Crore and a promoter contribution of Rs. 4,000 Crore. With a planned capital expenditure of Rs. 50,000 to 55,000 Crore over the next three years, Vi aims to expand its 4G coverage to reach approximately 90% of the Indian population while accelerating its 5G rollout in key regions.

Jagbir Singh, Chief Technology Officer of Vodafone Idea, expressed his enthusiasm for the launch: “Our focus is on introducing 5G meaningfully for our users. We have invested in building a robust 5G network by deploying the latest technology. By expanding our infrastructure, we are delivering a seamless, powerful, and future-ready network that meets the demands of modern connectivity.”

Vi plans to expand its 5G footprint across India in a phased manner, bringing next-generation connectivity to millions of customers in the coming months.
