Rupee Slips 6 Paise to 88.68 Against US Dollar on Importer Demand

The rupee weakened by 6 paise to close at 88.68 (provisional) against the US dollar on Thursday, pressured by foreign fund outflows and persistent dollar demand from importers, including oil companies.

Forex traders said the local currency traded within a narrow range, supported by a decline in global crude oil prices and optimism over US-India trade talks, which helped limit further losses.

At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 88.66, touched a high of 88.63, and hit a low of 88.73 during the session.
