Rupee crashes to record low of 93.49/$, slides 60 paise

The Indian rupee plunged 60 paise to hit a fresh all-time low of 93.49 against the US dollar in Friday’s trade, extending its sharp decline amid persistent global pressures.

The fall was driven by continued strength in the US dollar and sustained FII outflows, exacerbated by the ongoing West Asia conflict.

Rising global crude oil prices added further pressure on the currency, with concerns emerging that oil could surge towards USD 180 per barrel.

Despite a positive trend in domestic equity markets, the rupee remained under heavy selling pressure, highlighting underlying weakness in the currency.
