Ashwini Vaishnaw highlights Rs 90,000 crore rail infra push in Odisha

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said railway projects worth over Rs 90,000 crore are currently under execution in Odisha, marking a significant expansion in network capacity and project execution speed.

Speaking during his visit to Bhubaneswar, the minister emphasized the Centre’s focus on strengthening both passenger and freight infrastructure. He also reviewed the ongoing redevelopment of Bhubaneswar Railway Station, noting that upgraded facilities will enhance passenger comfort and align with modern standards.

Odisha has received a record railway budget allocation of Rs 10,928 crore, enabling faster project execution. Additionally, 59 stations are being upgraded under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to improve amenities and overall passenger experience.

Highlighting connectivity, the minister said efforts are underway to bring all 30 districts of the state under the rail network, supporting inclusive growth and better integration of remote regions.

He also pointed to key projects such as the proposed four-line coastal rail corridor from Balasore to Berhampur, which is expected to ease congestion, boost regional mobility, and drive economic activity.

The government believes these initiatives will strengthen connectivity, support economic growth, and position Odisha as a key hub in India’s expanding railway network.
