Post-Session: Stock markets end with marginal gains amid volatile trade

Indian stock markets ended flat on Thursday, halting a three-day rally, as choppy trade and weak global cues dampened investor sentiment. The lacklustre mood in global equities also triggered foreign capital outflows, weighing on benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 84478.67 up by 12.16 points or by 0.01 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25879.15 up by 3.35 points or by 0.01 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84919.43 and intraday low of 84253.05 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26010.7 and intraday low of 25808.4



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2879.10,+3.81%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1385.95,+1.99%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 270.10,+1.16%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3999.20,+1.16%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2054.25,+0.90%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 297.70,-3.63%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 320.25,-2.26%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3699.20,-1.45%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 176.60,-1.15%), Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (Rs. 398.05,-1.06%), among others.



CDS index was at 62072.96 up by 529.31 points or by 0.86%. Havells India Ltd. (Rs. 1466.00,+0.58%),.



CGS index was at 70665.82 down by -501.4 points or by -0.7%. NBCC (India) Ltd. (Rs. 108.95,-2.72%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd. (Rs. 21463.60,-2.46%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 281.15,-2.04%), Kalpataru Projects International Ltd. (Rs. 1239.00,-1.84%), Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. (Rs. 489.05,-1.81%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4533 , shares advanced were 1952 while 2424 shares declined and 157 were unchanged.
