Indian benchmark indices opened higher on Friday as global equities gained amid subsiding rate-hike fears following dovish comments from a US Federal Reserve official.

At 9:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 496.99 points or 0.65 per cent to 76,649.85 and the Nifty50 was up 57.15 points or 0.24 per cent at 23,930.6.

Among individuals, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Trent were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Coal India, ONGC, Eicher Motors, Adani Ports and Nestle.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap fell 0.04 and the Nifty SmallCap rose 0.46 per cent.

Sector-wise, the Nifty IT rose the most, while the Nifty Consumer Durables fell the most.

About 1561 shares advanced, 741 shares declined, and 150 shares unchanged.
